? Is it BA being stingy?
I can confirm we had champagne available as PDB on my departure on Friday evening (it was the Blanc des Millénaires they'd opened), so perhaps a one-off? The tradeoff was that we had non-Wi-Fi G-ZBKE
On to the meals:
PDB, I think I slightly preferred the Heidsieck to the Rare I tried on the way out.
Amuse bouche, I enjoyed this and the flavours went well together. I'm not too sure what the stripey bit on top was though!
Salmon, also very nice although the menu didn't mention the orange slices, and the fennel cream was very thick (almost goat's cheese consistency, perhaps overchilled?). The caperberry was very nice. Paired this with the Sauvignon which was lovely.
Duck main course; the crew said duck is a challenge to prepare on board for them, but they'd done a super job as it was well cooked, juicy and flavoursome. Accompaniments were similarly good, although the risotto wasn't as tasty as I'd hoped.
I chose the Pinot Noir which was superb.
Warm date bread & butter pudding. This was very pleasant although the sauce wasn't very orangey, more like a plain custard flavour.
I found the cheeses a little plain as expected, but still pleasant enough. I thought the Colheita Tawny was exquisite.
I didn't have breakfast, opting instead to wait until the Arrivals Lounge. I must make a special mention of the two female crewmembers on the flight, both superb and excellent ambassadors for BA. They made the flight a pleasure.
