Not exactly. If request 320 for a trip and they fail to clear, I can’t use those 320 for other upgrades until they are no longer showing as “Requested”. My issue is they still show as Requested two days after they failed.
I seem to recall having more PlusPoints applied than owning at one point. Whichever reservation cleared first got them. I also recall getting some kind of warning when “over-applying” that I was applying more than I had and one request was in danger of not clearing.
Just looked up the language:
“We don’t deduct PlusPoints for upgrade requests from your account until your upgrade is confirmed, letting you make as many requests as you want…”
The risk when applying to multiple reservations is the first with space made available gets the points applied, which may not be your priority of flight(s) for use of limited points.
