While there is much to critique when it comes to BA, I dint find the lack of progress with Starlink being one. We are party to discussions and don’t know what stage the plans are at. There is also certifications to consider. A quick check of Starlink certifications indicates that none of the aircraft operated by BA or Virgin, have UK CAA certification. Virgin announced before BA and have a smaller fleet, and also haven’t started.
I for one wouldn’t be surprised to see other IAG carriers start before BA based on EASA certifications.
So why not hold off on the announcement, get the certification in place (or any other ducks you need lined up), and announce it when you have it on the first aircraft, or are about to?
Everyone needs certification. Some airlines seem to manage the sequencing and expectations better.
Otherwise, all they announced is an intention, which is a bit silly.
