What is your ALL status?
Platinum
Were you (or for multi-stayers were you generally) happy with the hotel/stay?
It was a quick in and out for me, I was generally happy with the stay.
Which room did you book and which upgrade did you receive?
Booked a base room (Bay view king) with a points redemption, upgraded to the Tokyo tower view king. Just a view upgrade, not substantive.
How are the rooms?
The layout is a bit weird with the washroom in the middle of the room but the room was pretty sizeable. The water closet is essentially its own powder room right off the entrance. The overall fit and finish of the room was absolutely top class.
What was good and what was bad?
Good
-The room was great for me
-The service was good whenever I needed to interact with the staff
Bad
-If you're staying with someone else and they're not your spouse, the room layout is probably a drawback.
-I don't like the elevator setup with one elevator bank up to the lobby and a different one for the rooms. It's pretty common for tower hotels, I just find it annoying.
-The location isn't my favorite and the train station is about 10-ish minutes away (it's possible that my stay at the Mandarin last year absolutely spoiled me for station proximity).
Did you get club lounge access? How was the lounge?
Didn't have lounge access since I didn't book Fairmont Gold and gold lounge access is a diamond perk.
What about welcome drinks, welcome amenities or any other special perks?
Vouchers were useable at the lobby lounge till 10pm then one of the restaurants upstairs after 10pm. That's a bit weird but I didn't end up using them anyways.
Welcome amenity was in the room and a couple of stuffed animals were dropped off during turn down. My rate had a 100USD dining credit included. It was valid at about half the restaurants so make sure to clarify credit details at check-in if you have one.
Breakfast was included as a platinum benefit but I had an early morning flight so didn't get a chance to check it out.
Value for $ or Vouchers? Would you return?
Here's the real problem....the pricing. It's priced in the same range as the Mandarin and the Four Seasons and I don't know that it's that good. I was in at 7pm and out at 7am the next morning so this trip was really too short for me to get a good feel for if it's able to compete in that strata. Id return if the deal was right or I was making another redemption but I don't know that it would be my top choice at the regular rack rate.
