What makes it even harder to justify is the pricing: they’ve raised base rates/points by roughly 30-40%, at the same time the VND has weakened about 15% against the EUR over the past year. Service is still excellent, but the overall value proposition has clearly moved in the wrong direction. It’ll be interesting to see whether they can actually sustain those rates.
Out of interest, why do you think the offering has been devalued in the lounge?
If not for the lounge pass I'm not sure it represents good value, certainly not compared to previous pricing, so I'd agree with you there. However, we paid around 300 gbp per night booked well advance. This was 100gbp less per night than a very average recent stay at Intercontinental 02. So, I guess it is relative.
Will be trying the Halong Bay resort later this year, so will be intrigued to see how it compares!
