Flew LP Yesterday on a BCN-CDG-IAD itinerary. OLCI Upgrade from Points in J, Silver status. BCN-CDG landed at a remote stand and our escort was at the top of the stairs and whisked us over to the lounge, quick passport stamp and we got an amazing breakfast. Was able to get my partner in for a facial over our 5 hour layover. I took a walk of the terminal for a bit and we enjoyed several glasses of Laurent Perrier and some delicious snacks before boarding.
Our staffer, an amazing black man from Martinique, whisked us away to our 777 at just the right time, also a remote stand so we had to wait a mere 30 seconds for the stairs to finish clearing in the Porsche before we got onboard. The cabin was full, one either paid or plat/ult reward redemption and then one other upgrader like ourselves. Some more champs pre departure and we had our main meals about an hour after takeoff. Our FA was great. My food pictures would look exactly like one of the very recent previous posts so I won't bore with those again, but just have to say it was all excellent. The fish dish was completely unexpected it was the consistency of crab cake and a flavor somewhere between a regular white fish and crab. Regardless excellent.
Took a just under 3 hour nap in the middle of the flight and landed at IAD and was escorted through the customs/baggage process. My partner had another flight on United and our escort insisted on taking us up to United and helping us recheck her bags and offered to let her use the AF lounge until closure, but we decided to head over to Tysons for dinner before I took her back and then drove home.
I've flown 3 Fs, ANA to HND and from NRT, and EK via the JFK-ATH 5th freedom. ANA is last on both ground services and food and seat comfort (and that was with the new F product). EK had an excellent soft product on the plane and I recall an excellent meal. I will defer on the actual quality of the ground product as both were outstations. Food was as good as AF imo. AF bed was the best ever in the sky for me and the ground product was absolutely amazing. I hope to be able to try again one day once the lounge is renovated and all the new seats are installed. Definitely worth the fee!
