If you’re flying mostly AA long haul, AA miles will be a lot more valuable. They release more inventory to their program and also often have better rates ever since they started their websaver style awards where they charge less than the typical saver award price. And if there’s a flight change/cancellation or even irops, you’re going to get a lot better help if you used miles from the operating carrier.
