If you are not chasing status, AA miles are more valuable in 2 senses:
  • International awards are almost always require significantly fewer AA miles
  • AA has more oneworld redemption inventory than AS (often AS will show no availability on oneworld partners but AA has availability to redeem for them)
I agree EQMs are a significant factor and perhaps worth the higher award prices on AS, but not when you can't find availability.
