I would say yeah book the ticket with AC, I fly AC all the time, a cheap 200 ticket one way (Canadian) can net me 250 or more PQP (which is based on USD) on UA, business class is even better if you can get a good deal.

Things I would keep in mind, if it's overseas then you get a cap on Economy/Premium Economy (750 I believe) and 1500 for Business (per segment)
