Hi all.

As title states, checked in yesterday for KLM flight UK to AMS on basic fare having input my Gold SAS number. Even though reservation and app stated I had one checked bag, after several telephone calls by check in staff I was told that I would have to pay (£60). I advised them re my SAS status and showed them my booking showing checked bag but they wouldn’t have any of it.

Having flown with BA for 25+ years and unhappy with them these days, I was looking forward to trying out KLM as a precursor to moving travel. Not off to a great start and now have to try and recover my money and hope the same does not happen on my return flight on Friday!

I would be grateful for clarification as to the baggage benefits of Elite Plus when flying on a basic fare as my understanding is I should not have been charged and also, any advice regarding how to ensure that the is is not repeated?
