Considering that you are providing some history titbits of the card, I may share some related personal info. I opened a Sears store card in 1994 for some free appliance financing but closed it in 1999. I then opened a Sears MC in 2004. It almost had no spending until 2015 when out of the blue, I started receiving some great cashback offers. At that time, there was no discussion regarding these offers anywhere online. That card did not earn any type of points. I received an offer to switch it to a ThankYou version, but I did not want to mess around with the crazy offers I was getting.

My wife got the SYW card in 2022. For some reason, offers stopped on my original card in 2023. After 6 months or so with zero offers, I applied and got a SYW card for myself. I was not able to convert the original MC to SYW and I was not able to keep both cards. My application for SYW card was initially declined due to holding the Sears MC. I had to close the old account and submit another application to get a SWY card.

So, cashback offers started in 2015, and I would not have dreamt at any point so they would still continue till 2026.
