The only time I've ever received niceties as a Gold was when my company started regularly booking us at a single hotel and we became friends with the front desk and management due to out extended stays. I didn't get any room upgrades, but they were totally flexible about our check-in/check-out times. I've checked out as late as 11pm and they didn't charge us for the night. They'd also let me check in at 4am with no extra charge.
