Ideally, I would want British Airways flight numbers to get the bonus points, but it’s not essential. Stopping in Muscat is the key part.
I suggest making the call, not sure if any FTers have done this.
Oman Air is a Oneworld partner (as of June 2025) so in theory there should be codeshares at some point, however I actually can't find any on itamatrix for your route so best to call and ask for codeshare availability.
I realise this may be a pain as it introduces an extra stop but you could fly through Doha. (I've just flown through Doha to Bangkok myself all on BA coded flights) so LHR-DOH-MCT-DOH-BKK
