Seems like time to bump this thread. I'm looking for availability on NZ using partner miles...which seems close to nonexistent...and as suggested by others here, that impacts the ability of NZ Airpoints - or Koru - account holders to use their miles on partner carriers. I'm curious as to why NZ doesn't release much space to others. Are they able to fill even the economy cabin some other way?
Not really - I think this thread is more about how to get partner awards using AirNZ 'Airpoints'. The forums of other carriers that are frustrated being unable to secure award from their programs on NZ metal is probably a better place to ask this question.
I am not sure if there is a correlation between (the frustration of) trying to use Airpoints for partner awards and rare NZ availability for partners. As to the 'why' - goodness knows. I personally think that the quite flakey AirNZ systems may also be a cause.
