Also, given the trade war with China is inevitably going to go on and actually get worse, I believe you can just forget about it.
Comac is actively seeking eASA certification:

AECC is on the verge of putting the CJ-1000A into service. Agreed this is basically on the level of CFM56, it's their first iteration and the 2nd Gen will catch up quickly:

As for Trade war with China, without going political, the current Nationalist agenda in the US is likely to remain past the current administration. As stated frequently, Trumpism will live beyond Trump. The movement behind it is much larger than one man. As this massive shift in geopolitics is occurring, China has been quietly spreading the message that they are the stable economic partner everyone needs today and will use decade of evidence from the Belt and Road initiative as the example of their place as the next unavoidable world power. In the face of growing protectionism from the US, Europe, Canada and everyone else will need to make deals with China. Oh wait... they already are.
I predict we will see Comac purchases from European carriers in the next 5 years and a Canadian Operator flying them within 10 years. And as I have said before, they currently are the only manufacturer making 50-70 seat RJs and that massive worldwide fleet will need replacement in the next 10-15 years.
AC will invite Comac to the table in the scope of MAX replacement when that time comes.
