There are certainly people who can do this, and good luck to them. There are always bigger fish and the new system will suit some.

Indeed, I do have the occasional intrusive thought myself after a good year on investments of doing a quick 5 star jaunt to Japan to renew GGL. But I just can’t derive a positive value equation. I’ve certainly spent a lot on travel since the announcements but I’ve done far more interesting things (from my perspective) than I would otherwise have done.

That’s my tiermageddon shift. My disposable income is focused on what I want to do to find a fulfilling life, not on earning a shiny card and getting a nicer waiting room at Heathrow.
