Well, most people stick to what they know. They've no idea if airline B, C and D are superior to BA.

These forums, whilst once again, not a fully picture of BA passengers, seems to have gone from loads of us trying to get "720TP for £1020 trips to HNL" to "I got GGL in 2 weeks after dropping barely £50k on flights etc.".

Definitely those out there who will keep throwing greater amounts at BA regardless of what they do.
Even if they stopped all food in CW and charged say £30 for meal, sort of like Norse do in Premium, I doubt loads would change by anything really.

BA are like that sketch from "Come Fly With Me" where the man loses his passport, rants about he's never going to fly with them airline again, finds it a minute later and is all smiles back at the check in desk.
