I just completed a night at the SkyCity Marriott prior to a morning departure from HKIA. Overall, I was quite impressed with this property and wish that it was in the city so that it would make sense to stay here for non-airport purposes. Here are my impressions and photos:
Pros:
- Upgraded to an “Executive Seaview Larger Suite” before arrival - this was a full suite on the corner of the building (but luckily on the side closer to the elevators) - the view was of the Hong Kong boundary crossing facility for the bridge (won’t post photos as don’t know about legality)
- Bed was comfortable - decently plush mattress (blessing in HK), plush covers, thick but comfortable pillows
- Shower pressure was strong and good (I used the wand)
- Suite is large with a comfortable design
- Lounge had good desserts during evening service (5:30 to 8) and I had some Baileys (alcohol is free as to be expected - not as AI claimed upthread)
- Breakfast for Elites offered either in restaurant or lounge - both don’t start until 6:30 - restaurant was fine with decent omelet, decent salmon, and decent waffle - nothing to get excited over but better than airport lounge food, for sure
- They offered me a free van transfer to the airport at any time I wished to schedule it - quick and easy private van to HKIA (yes, there is still a shuttle bus, too)
Cons:
I would come back here for airport purposes.
