Though I would have hoped they put this info more clearly and in pages more easily found, instead of only being buried in the full T&C text.

The link provided is to
Cathay Membership Programme Terms and Conditions, which explicitly govern the relationship between Asia Miles Limited and Cathay members. The “membership number on boarding pass” requirement therefore applies to Cathay programme benefits only. In my case, lounge access was based on oneworld Emerald status from another airline, not Cathay membership, so that T&C does not appear to be applicable.
