I have a flight in more than 100 days (unusual for me) - and the outbound could not be booked in D1/ FC - connecting through JFK from SFO - inbound somehow worked.
So I was planning on cash upgrade. But despite the D1 cabin is totally empty (upgrade list shows 36 available seats) - no cash offer is available. Neither for the connecting flight in the FC cabin.
And as a Platinum - also the comfort plus seats can not be selected nor were available at ticketing
Do a 'change flight' query every now and then; you may snag a good fare that way. The added advantage is that if you use that route, it will be a trip actually booked in class, rather than an upgrade. in IRROPS you're protected, vsl losing your upgrade when flights get changed.
