The weird thing though is that expert mode for some reason shows L0, K0 for my respective flights even though it lists those fare classes on the second ticket. Now I'm wondering if there are actually "secret" fare sub-buckets.
For example, there's L1 fare that shows in expert mode while L2 fare and L3 fares don't show in expert mode but are also L fares. If L1, L2, and L3 are all different prices, perhaps I booked the last L2 fare and only L3 is remaining?
Or is expert mode simply glitched and the prices of L and/or K instantly updated just because I bought a ticket?
You're describing UA's continuous pricing. The filed L/K fares are lower than what you actually paid. The inventory is correct -- if inventory were >0, you'd be able to pay the filed fare. Instead, they sell you the fare rules of the lower bucket at a price between that one and the next highest bucket.
So, the short answer is 'yes'.
