tbf OuterBanks I was merely putting a different point of view. Personally I don't book BAHs, but clearly others do and we have seen some reports of that in this thread. I am not trying to advocate for the changes to BAC as a whole.

regardless of the strength of feeling, there are people who have benefited from the changes, and that does include those booking expensive fares who previously who have got little or no status benefit compared to those sat next to them paying a tenth of the price, and also those who use BAH who now get points for hotel spend as well. some have even been brave enough to post on here despite the overwhelming feeling of negativity to the changes from the majority of us.

fundamentally it has been a mistake to view most ffps these days as loyalty schemes regardless of how they are described. they are set up to try and increase spend with the airline and more now to operate as a leverage-able sperate entity with their own ecosystem somewhat unlinked to a traditional bums on seats model - look at the ability in the US to earn status purely via credit card spend for example.

it is clear ba has not managed the transition well both in terms of communications and in terms of setting up lots of new deals and partners to allow status point earning from spend. i am sure adjustments will be made if they see fit, but they will very much be geared towards what makes ba money, not what we as passengers might like.
