I believe NRT-ORD was the only JL F route out of NRT, so if they don't re-accommodate you at HND, you'd be stuck in J. But I don't see why they wouldn't allow a change to HND, as both are considered part of the same city...
I'm kind of confused about the flight options and downgrade in general. On first glance last night, the seat map is still showing the F configuration of the 787-8 for ORD & I'm also pulling up conflicting information on the non stop routes available and their configurations. Optimum though would of course be HND to DFW or JFK.
