the bigger issue is having that Ambank partnership which substantially reduces the requirement for status qualification. That's nuts and results in overcrowding in the KUL lounge.
To be fair their companion card benefit is quite generous for a base Platinum and it did help me with my family when travelling on OW airlines not in KUL. I don't use KUL much unless im flying alone as I am based outside Malaysia. My view on the companion card is that I think they would think they would remove it soon or only award it at a higher level eg Platinum+ or something. It is quite easy to get platinum and for now i have too many elite points that i dont know where to credit my OW flights after 140 elite points. It would be nice of they have a Platinum+ tier or something...
