Service was highly variable across our days - high-touch one day to non-existent the next.
Also booked into a Andaz Suite at booking with an SUA; no further upgrade as the property was 100% sold out. I found the layout very disappointing - basically a regular room with another long, narrow "space" at the end of the hall connected with an internal door; that space oddly had its own hall-facing door. The master shower struggled to drain, and was leaking into the master toilet space; I let the FD know but no action taken; we just used the bathroom on the other side of the suite to avoid damage.
One other thing to note (and this may not be unique to this location) is that Ave Insurgentes Sur gets quite jammed what seemed like every day but Sunday. Consequently, Uber pick up estimates should not be relied on so if you have dinner reservations at somewhere unfriendly towards lateness (e.g. Pujol) or timed entry tickets to a museum (e.g. Frida Kahlo), try to leave some buffer -- don't ask me how I know :P
I think this is a property you really choose for the location - the breakfast has a lot of choice but didn't blow me away. Staff were very friendly. Other than that, the only real highlight was the pool next to Cubaya is pretty good with views of the city.
But I would counsel folks to keep expectations in check here.
I would agree with this. The breakfast is very much Category 4 quality, if that makes sense. It's not mind-blowing by any means, but it gets the job done. The buffet in the restaurant at the HR is better.
As for the questions above, I've been to both as a family of four (my kids are young, and were 2/3 and 4/5 when we were at each hotel). The suite at Andaz is two connecting rooms, so I'm assuming they have connecting standard rooms as well. Not sure about the HR. Both are spacious enough for 4, but my kids are small and can fit on the sofa bed. There isn't room for a rollaway in the Andaz suites (or if there is, you're going to need to get very creative with where you put it).
Also, off-topic but because it was mentioned in the above post, I would avoid Pujol at all cost. Completely over-rated junk that's on autopilot...and I haven't eaten there since 2018. All you have to do is look at Latin America's Top 50 and see how far it's fallen over the years. And for what it's worth, Quintonil is and always has been much, much better. End rant.
