Yes, as long as both reservations are fully ticketed there is virtually zero risk that AA cancels one or the other. Just book the new J reservation, make sure it tickets and select seats etc., then go back and cancel your old PE reservation. Nothing to worry about.

One other question, I think I saw that they were marketing this flight as "Flagship available"... I can't see anywhere that it says that in my reservations. That being said, if it is a flagship flt, what would that get me compared to a non Flagship flt?
