Review on JAL and accept whatever option makes sense. 2. If #1 doesn't work out, check if AA can work some other viable option. Contacting JAL was a no-go (I kinda expected it) for me.
I talked to them a few months ago and they told me that I could only talk to American UNLESS they made a schedule change. Low and behold, after the recent schedule changes went through, I called again and they were happy to assist (even though I didn't end up making any changes after all).
