You only need the US address for Opinion Place, of course you can join AAdvantage FF programme with UK address.
Suggest you are "creative" with a US address as you just need it accepted by the system, whihc is independent of AA. No mail is sent; suggest a hotel address would do....
Tesco/Amex/RBS are all good; but an AA account is not a bad idea anyway; spreads the risk of your FF balance, allows you to take advanatage of any AA promotions, and easy to earn status with their Platinum Challenge status run.
