The info on that United Fleet site seems to mainly be populated based on people looking up aircraft in the UA app and updating the United fleet site accordingly -- for a while there was a case where one aircraft was listed as renovated on the United Fleet aircraft with a note of "some reports that it's not NEXT configured" -- perhaps the exact aircraft you had the problem with.
