Why do you say it would only sell in the americas? There’s a major gap in plane capacity between the A321/739 and the A339/789. Is this because for most European routes they can fly one more 321? I’m not thinking a 757 replacement for the performance routes… just something that is optimized to fly 225-250 passengers in a standard configuration. Right now this is a hole.
I think it's because I really don't really remember them flying the middle of market planes very much these days where the western hemisphere airlines still do. I typically see them using either really big planes or smaller planes and I think it fits their model better since they tend to have one massive hub which allows for bigger planes and everything else being smaller. There are some exceptions (like MAN or EDI) which are medium sized cities with service to North America. The US is big, but has many large hubs which isn't like anything in Europe. As for Asia, I think China has the potential for a MoM plane because there is a massive market there where they have many cities with over a million people. But, all their long haul will be done with a 787 or 350 sized plane IMO.
