I have a lot of issues with how these train+plane combos are implemented, which is why I don't buy them even though I like the concept, and the way they usually split classes is one of the main ones. Business class on a plane vs first class on a train are very different beasts in terms of value for money - first class on a train costs much less and delivers much better benefits, so the concept of "economy ticket = second class on a train" never worked for me. I always book first class on trains, while I rarely book business class on planes within Europe. Yet most products just assume that if you don't want to buy a J ticket, you're okay with the second class on trains. Good to know that AFKL got it right!
