Many think having an AMEX Plat card is some kind of rare, unusual status symbol or perk. An acquaintance (choice of words intentionally over "Friend") even goes as far as to keep the card in his wallet to "impress" women even though its been canceled. But thats a whole different can of worms.

People go get the cards to tout about their "luxurious airport lounge experience". "When everyone is Elite, no one is". I mostly avoid any airport lounge in the US especially Skydumps or other brand wide lounges, outside of a VERY few (QF F lounge at LAX, EK lounge at JFK, D1 Lounge, etc), rather I find a quiet gate and/or get to the airport as close to departure as possible.

Now, as I type this im currently in Guinea and the airport lounge at CKY is more of a broom closest with unsafe water, so in this example I would gladly accept a Skydump.
