A larger housing payment only raises the upper limit of the amount of Bilt Cash you can liquidate via housing payments (or the thresholds under the Housing-only option).
You bring up a good point, and since your housing/rent payment only serves to limit the amount of Bilt points you can buy, would you not be better off picking an arbitrary number that most closely aligns with your spend pattern so that you can get the most benefit?
In my previous post, I mentioned that I would most likely continue to pay my rent, separate of Bilt, through my independent property management's web portal, but if I applied for the card, i know it will ask me for my monthly rent/housing payment (I think) since I haven't actually gone to the trouble of looking at the application, but it's possible that one's rent could vary from one month to another if you got a roommate, lost a roommate, switched properties etc.
If your spend level supported earning points on a $5000 rent, would there be any reason why you couldn't put your rent down as $5000, even though it's only $1000 or $2500? I know I read that Bilt will electronically debit one's bank account via ACH and not actually charge the credit card. Is that why you need to give them the actual amount of your actual rent?
I'm not trying to say that it is OK to lie or misrepresent the truth if that's important, but since, as you said, you don't actually earn points on rent, does it really matter if you give them the exact dollar amount of your rent each month.......
I know their goal is to eliminate people that will try to game the system....I think......but if someone routinely wants to spend $7500 per month on the card, are they potentially going to run into problems if Bilt realizes that their $10,000 monthly rent payment is really much less?
Also, would someone have the option of reporting their rent for November and December as $0.00 if they wanted to utilize other rewards cards for the remaining 2 months of the year.....in order to potentially requalify for elite airline/hotel, or train status?
