none of this applies to UK/IE passport holders tho. as I said originally "As a uk citizen I have to show a passport to show I don’t need a passport". clearly there would be no value in recording UK/IE passport entries and passing them to UKBF if Ireland actually segregated CTA arrivals - which as they don't (and never used to) causes this whole issue since they have no idea when you get to the border where you have come from leading to unnecessary checks. as Kumulani notes, all of this is a consequence of how Ireland chooses to operate CTA arrivals rather than some benevolent attempt to help the UK manage their border.

anyway, i am still not convinced by any of the logic of what you post for the reason i noted - but equally i don't want to further derail the thread so will leave it there.
