Take up skiing AND put ski boots & helmet INSIDE a large suitcase (instead of separate boot bag), then you can do it as often as you like.

My 26” suitcase, with ski boots and helmet and clothing, usually weighs 50.5-51.5 lbs (I’ve done it so many times I don’t need to weigh it) which is why I’m partial to UA (70 lb limit for elites) for ski trips (and that UA has better service to many ski destinations). For AA (50 lb limit strictly enforced) ski trips I must put a heavy sweater and/or fleece lined trousers in my ski bag and move some bubble wrap from my ski bag to my 26” suitcase to get to 49.0-49.5 lbs. I pack very carefully and I don’t EVER want to be “that guy”* who’s repacking at the airport check-in area. At my age my main (ski trip) concern is remembering which airline I’m flying so I’ll remember exactly how to pack .

Hmmm, quite a (possible) set-up line but sometimes discretion is the better part of valor .

(Footnote: * "That guy" is a versatile, informal phrase that can refer to a specific, often annoying or stereotypical person (like "don't be that guy"), a familiar but unnamed actor in movies, or just a generic placeholder for "someone" when the specific person isn't important, but its exact meaning depends heavily on the context of the conversation.)
