I reached out to waitlist my transcon via twitter like I had done a few years ago. Agent first asked me to verify my identity, then came back to say I was confirmed in IN. I was shocked, esp since I have no status (just the credit card). I'm sure I got super lucky somehow, maybe the agent gave me something I wasn't entitled to, but you can't get lucky if you don't try (but agree with not spending too much time on it).
