Two quick questions about the 10,000 mile award credit for spending $20,000 on the Explorer card in a year:

1. My expiration date is 17-April-26. Does the flight need to be taken before then or only booked before then?
2. Since the credit is only good for trips that cost over 10,000 miles, is that based off of the entire trip or just one segment?
