Yes, I made very clear that I was in transit and showed both boarding passes. Tried to argue but to no avail. The maximum they could offer was 6 hours. I also flew through JED in December without any problems. My travels were in Y but they way they but it, the new rule seemes only to apply to STE+ passengers.
