Fighting words in ORD... very interesting! The last 25 years in this industry mostly saw turf wars (such as they were) between legacy carriers and LLCs. The closest thing maybe being Delta elbowing its way into SEA, but still not the same thing. Delta and United have largely kept to their separate corners since their respective mergers. Same too with AA until now. Even the de facto battleground at LAX, with no dominant legacy carrier, has effectively been a competitive equilibrium for 5+ years.
We really haven't seen a heavyweight bout like what's brewing in Chicago since the 90s. I eagerly await next week's schedule load.
