How much is that costing you, though? Even putting aside the hassle of lugging multiple bags around stations, I'm being quoted £133 pp as the cheapest Preston-Heathrow return, 2-3 months out. I guess if you travel on very expensive last-minute BA tickets it's worth it, but for ordinary leisure travellers (who might have paid nothing for the MAN-LHR leg on an award booking), it makes no sense. Even after paying £160 for 3 weeks' airport parking for our upcoming trip we'd be £140 worse off (rail fare plus Ubers) and even more exhausted from dragging the suitcases around!

*Plus probably F & B on the train, which we would otherwise get in the MAN lounge.
