In summary, the IHG points-earning amount ($935.50) included:
- the base (non-tax) room charges
- the value of Chase's "The Edit" perks, specifically the cost of the free breakfasts (up to $60 per day) and the property credit (up to $100) used at the on-site restaurant to charge meals to the room
- the value of a welcome amenity food credit
I had no out-of-pocket costs for food, as all tax and gratuities were covered by the credits. The $246.90 amount reflects $147.70 in breakfasts plus $99.20 for lunches/dinners at the restaurant. The $10 difference between that and the $256.90 in food charges reflects the items that were covered by my choice of a $10 minibar credit as a welcome amenity.
