Apologies if this is inappropriate to ask here, but have a question for any AA experts here on this fare... I'm in progress on the AA version of this RT fare booked with AA, on March 25, 2025 INX08TN3 GMP-EZE, though technically I’ve combined on a half RT basis with AA INX08TN3 GMP-GRU (i.e. my flight is GMP-HND-JFK-EZE, GRU-JFK-HND-GMP)

I booked this a year ago to lock in I class availability from HND-JFK, and I have flown GMP-HND and HND-JFK.

Now, I want to change the dates forward for my remaining segments and (if possible) change from GRU to EZE, all within 1 year of the first segment so should be kosher.

As I understand it, this should also use historical fares since I’ve flown the first few segments already.

That being said, when I called AA, they insist that their system pushes me from I to R even though they see I availability. This specifically happens for everything after the “return” portion starts, I.e. JFK-EZE is fine to date change in I, but GRU-JFK, JFK-HND is forced into R, they want ~$1k extra per person for the fare change.

Does anyone know, should the second half of the RT fare also be priced as the same fare that was available when I originally booked? And if so, is this just an availability / inventory issue? I know there are specific restrictions on sales city or other availability nuances that I'm not able to see in ExpertFlyer. How do I escalate to AA / get someone to talk to faring desk? Can I switch to combine with a JL fare instead of AA? Any other ways out?
