Have stayed at several Holiday Inns and Crowne Plazas in Japan, seems easier to find in other cities than Tokyo compared to other "foreign" brands.
CP has a long history here and some properties have an 80s vibe as a result. Still, they are often priced fairly and I do like them. I’ve only been to one HI, a resort which was quite nice (though also a bit dated in terms of decor).
Marriott has been rapidly increasing its footprint, Hyatt as well but to a lesser extent. Both have choice locations and premium prices.
