We're talking about cards that earn 8x on gas, not how you turn gas purchases into x% cash back. Those are different things, try to follow along.
It's like saying if I buy gas on my Chase Freedom when gas is a 5x bonus category, and then redeem them with a 2x Points Boost through the Chase travel portal, my CF earns 10x on gas.
