I usually leave the change open until a few days before the flight if I plan to fly, just to have insurance against changed plans. And with the frequency of AA schedule changes on the South American flights, you are almost guaranteed to have at least one.
On a different topic, I am scheduled to make the JL93/94 same-plane turn in GMP tomorrow. I've done it before, once with connection assistance and once with immigration clearance, but it has been a while. Does anyone have any recent experience in asking JAL to facilitate the GMP connection? Thanks.
