Frankly its hilarious how bad the launch marketing is here, with probably 25% of it being just bad responses on social media that results in more confusion through badly planned/unclear answers, and the rest from the convoluted mess of the program that still isn't set in stone.

It could have been a very clean "earn 2.33/3.33/4.33 points per dollar spent up to 75% of your rent/mortgage and 1/2/3 points afterwards". Sure, of course its worse than the before "here just have some free points for existing", but you have a clean message to market on. It's not like other cards have spending caps on bonus points earnings either.

And if they still wanted to have the bilt cash ecosystem, then they could do something like "have the choice to (a) earn 2.33/3.33/4.33 points per dollar spent up to 75% of your rent and 1/2/3 points afterwards; OR (b) earn 1/2/3 points and 4% cash to spend in the Bilt Portal."

They tried to have their cake and eat it with them wanting to still be able to say "earn 1x on your full rent without a transaction fee* (*lol terms and conditions)" to mimic 1.0 which was easily seen through. Instead you probably have 95% of your potential customers thinking the card is useless because they can't spend 75% of their rent and concurrently pissed off at what seems to be a blatant bait and switch from the addition of a 3% "rent fee".
