I decided to try this property on my monthly trip to NYC and I will not be back. The rooms are indeed dated, though the bed was still fairly comfortable. The chair was in such rough shape I did not risk sitting in it. The bigger issue is how they treat Bonvoy Top tier members - they could care less about your status and basically thumb their noses at the program in general. I must have received 5 or 6 emails/texts before arrival offering upgrades (well beyond what I was given) for as low as $30 a night ! I checked availability on my way to the property and there were lots of rooms in all categories, but despite all of that, I was given a basic room on a low floor.
I asked the front desk if upgrades were not given to Bonvoy Members to which he said that I had been given the top upgrade - I was facing 57th street !! No mention of the $45 a day fees were given, so I asked about the coupons for all the events that were included. There are no coupons he said, you need to purchase the events, keep your receipts and then submit to us for approval ?? Not at all what was advertised. Nor was there any mention of my Titanium amenity, so I asked about that. What was the breakfast option ? We don't offer that anymore he said, your only choice is the 1000 points.
What a joke and from the reviews I have read, this has happened to many others also and yet Marriott does nothing to enforce the program here. Lots of lip service from management after the reviews are left, but nothing changes. This hotel manages to drag the Bonvoy program down a few notches in my book, all by itself.
Do yourself a favor and look elsewhere in NYC for a property. There are many that I have stayed at here who actually appreciate Top Tier members and they will continue to get my business.
