Normally I would never hit the stay/spend targets for DR, but this year, because of 2025 rollover nights (for the last time), and 1-2 relatively more expensive stays, I might be able to cross the line by the end of 2026. The question is whether it's even worth it given that I'll never be able to maintain it past next year. I guess it depends on how I value the suite upgrade and extra 20% bonus points. (Will not be able to take advantage of the premium clubs or late check out.)
My take would be to not stretch if it means inconveniencing yourself. You might get some of the same upgrades anyway just as a Diamond.
Of course, what do I know? Never been Diamond. Didn't try to keep Gold after the breakfasts at HGIs got downgraded. So I am just Silver right now, with IHG as my first choice of hotel chains.
