I've used vouchers to immediately upgrade Y to PY and wait-list for Y to J. When the J upgrade is confirmed, I received a refund of the vouchers used for Y to PY.

Am I able to use miles to confirm the Y to PY upgrade and vouchers to wait-list the Y to J upgrade, as I'd prefer to get a refund of miles? If I'm using a family members vouchers for the Y to J upgrade, can I process that wait listed upgrade online first prior to calling to confirm the Y to PY upgrade using my miles?
