Correct, but OP, you would be well advised to read the thread that cfischer is referencing. There appears to be another way to extend:
Book using your FFC for a flight within the fly by date, then use the CHANGE (Note not the CANCEL) function to extend it.
This has worked for a long time, but cautionary notes are starting to appear in the mentioned thread. It's a long read but could save you 500 bucks.

Kind of a no lose proposition for OP. Either the FFC is 100% gone. Or it's <100% change of it being gone.
OP can do some research for the FT greater good!
